1. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information Bangelo collects through bangelo.com, why we collect it, and how it's used, for both Guests booking a stay and Owners listing a property.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text) when you register as a Guest, Owner, or Provider.
• Booking and listing details: property address or activity/service details, photos, pricing, availability, and in-platform messages exchanged between Guests and Owners/Providers.
• Payment information: Short-Term Rental and Experience bookings, and Rentals/Seasonal/Service listing fees, are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Bangelo does not store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly under its own privacy policy.
• Identity verification: if you choose to complete optional identity verification, your government-issued ID photo and a live selfie are submitted directly to our provider, Stripe Identity, and processed under its own privacy policy. Bangelo receives and stores only the resulting verified/not-verified status, not the document or photo itself.
• Contact form and inquiry submissions: name, email, phone number, and message content when you submit an inquiry, listing, or contact request.
• Technical information: basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and troubleshooting.

3. How we use your information

• To create and manage your Guest or Owner account;
• To process bookings, send confirmation emails, and facilitate communication between Guests and Owners;
• To review and publish property listings;
• To respond to inquiries sent through the site;
• To detect fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service;
• To send booking-related and account-related emails (we do not send marketing email without consent).

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the platform:

• With the other party to a booking (e.g. an Owner or Provider sees the Guest's name and contact details for a confirmed booking or inquiry, and vice versa);
• Stripe, to process payments, and Stripe Identity, if you opt into identity verification;
• Our email delivery provider, to send transactional emails (booking confirmations, password resets);
• Our hosting provider [Hostinger], which stores the underlying database and files;
• If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Bangelo, our users, or the public.

5. Data retention

We retain account and booking information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations. You can request deletion of your account by contacting info@bangelo.com.

6. Your choices

• You can review and update your account details at any time from your Guest or Owner dashboard;
• You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal record-keeping requirements (e.g. completed booking/payment records);
• You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time — transactional emails tied to an active booking will still be sent.

7. Cookies

Bangelo uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. [Update this section if analytics or ad-tracking scripts are added later.]

8. Children

Bangelo is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
